Joining BCP volunteers for the September roadside litter pickup on GM Access Road and Caperton Blvd. were employees from Macy’s, Fed Ex and Quad Graphics.

“In support of the West Virginia Adopt-a-Highway program, Berkeley Community Pride adopted 2 miles of roadside- GM Access Road and Caperton Blvd. BCP is encouraging other local businesses, civic groups and local agencies to adopt a local roadside to address the pressing issue of litter. Beside the obvious negative visual impact of litter, the accumulated trash also poses a hazard to water resources as toxic materials seep into the groundwater. From an economic development perspective, the appearance of litter along the roadways send a negative message that this is a community that doesn’t care. Guidelines for the Adopt-a-Highway program can be found at www.wvdep.org/dlr/reap.
