“Carlos and Sonia Romo, owners of La Trattoria Italian Eatery, were awarded the 2nd annual BCP Green Award at the annual meeting January 2012. Nominated by the Berkeley Solid Waste Authority, the Romo’s have designated containers in the restaurant for all recyclables, staff are trained to recycle, and twice a week Carlos takes recyclables to the Grapevine Road Recycling Center. The restaurant recycles: cardboard, mixed paper, glass bottles, steel cans, plastic containers, and newspapers. La Trattoria promotes environmental awareness in the workplace and by involving their employees they are being educated to the impact of recycling, and the responsibility to recycle both at work and at home.”
