Shepherd University

Criteria:
-Each recent will be a resident of the Eastern Panhandle (Berkeley, Jefferson, Morgan Counties) with preference given to residents of Berkeley County.
-Each recipient will maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be making reasonable progress toward completion of a degree.
-Each recipient will exhibit financial need as determined by the Shepherd University Financial Aid Office.
-Preference will be given to a student who is actively participating in community and/or campus service.
-Annually the Shepherd University Environmental Studies faculty will recommend three students, based on the award criteria listed in the scholarship agreement, to the Berkeley Community pride Board of Directors to receive the scholarship award. Information provided for each student will include name, class year, GPA, major area of study, county of residence and a brief statement of why the student is recommended.
 
Interested students will provide a 250-word letter to the Shepherd University Foundation by March 15 as to why they should receive the award. The Foundation will forward the letters to the Berkeley Community pride Board of Directors by April 1, and winners will be notified by April 15.
 
Students who have received the award may reapply.
 
The Berkeley Community pride Board of Directors will notify the Shepherd University Foundation of the student(s) to receive the award(s). The award(s) will be made through the Shepherd University Financial Aid Office.
 
The scholarship will be awarded on a year-to-year basis, as funded.
The scholarship funding for each year may be awarded to one or more students as directed by the Berkeley Community Pride Board of Directors.
The estimated amount for the 2011-2012 academic year will be $1,000.
